Vacant Home Tax Survey (January-February 2023)

The City of Windsor is developing a Vacant Home Tax as a means of encouraging owners of vacant residential dwellings to sell or rent them out to increase the City's housing supply.  This tax would be calculated as a percentage of the property's assessment value.  This tax would not apply to principal residences or commercial properties.  All owners of a residential property would be required to submit an annual declaration to declare the status of their home to determine if the Vacant Home Tax would apply.

This survey seeks your input as we explore the implementation of a Vacant Home Tax.

We want to know your thoughts on the proposed Vacant Home Tax and opinions on the overall framework of the program.

The survey will take 10 to 15 minutes to complete.

All questions are mandatory and require an answer in order to progress between pages and submit responses.

Your responses are completely anonymous.

Please do not include any personal information in your responses.

Please submit your completed survey by February 19th, 2023.

Thank you in advance for participating in this survey and sharing your thoughts on the proposed Vacant Home Tax.  We value your feedback as we gather information and ideas about the implementation of this tax during our first stage of public engagement.  Please note that all responses received will be confidential.
